What we do
Red Sky Defense applies fire-retardant coating to structures that are already standing, to siding and fencing, to framing during construction, and to barns and livestock buildings. While we work very closely with the manufacturer, we are the applicator, not the manufacturer. The coating and the science behind it come from the manufacturer. What belongs to us is the work: covering a structure properly, with a trained, certified crew led by someone who understands how buildings go together.
Lonnie Castelli has been building and remodeling in the Yampa Valley for years. He understands where a fire finds its way into a building, because he knows how buildings are put together. We check our own work, and we won't close a job we wouldn't stand behind. We can recommend and arrange for independent third party inspectors and testing.
What this protection does, and what it doesn't
Fire-retardant coating improves a structure's odds and buys time. It does not make a building fireproof, and no one who tells you otherwise is being straight with you.
Here is the honest version. The coating slows ignition. It gives a structure a better chance of still being there when the fire moves through, and it gives you more time to get people and animals out.

One is a temporary coating, a faster, lighter option for when there's fire in the area or a season is shaping up to be a bad one. It protects for a while and then needs refreshing.
The other is a longer-lasting coating for siding and fencing, meant to stay on. It's the plan-ahead choice rather than the react-now one.

If you are using our temporary solution, and it needs refreshing to keep doing its job. Ongoing service agreements handle that, so there is no need to remember to rebook each season.
These fit best for existing commercial properties, second and third homes where the owner isn't around to manage it, and property management companies covering several buildings at once. One relationship, and structures that stay protected. When it’s time to re-side or repaint, we can switch to a more permanent solution.

Fire code requirements for new construction are set by the county, and whether a specific approach satisfies them is a determination for your building official. We can tell you what we apply and provide documentation. Confirm compliance with your local County or your building department directly.
The manufacturer provides certificates of compliance that a property owner can share with their carrier. What a carrier does with that is between you and them. We make no promises about premiums or coverage.
