How It Started
Lonnie Castelli is a licensed contractor. He's spent years putting up and remodeling homes in the Yampa Valley, so when he heard about a wildfire-protection coating coming to the area, one a local crew could be trained to apply, he paid attention. He'd seen enough of what fire does to his community to know it was worth doing right.
So, he became the local applicator, and Red Sky Defense was born.
Why It Matters to Us
We live here too. Smoke in the valley is just part of summer now, and most people around here have watched a fire burn on a ridge close enough to think hard about what they'd grab and how much time they'd have.
That's the part that stays with you. Not the house so much as everyone in it, and the animals you can't fit in the truck. Wildfire keeps getting closer and more frequent across this region, and insurance keeps getting harder to hold onto.
People aren't looking for a miracle. They're looking for a real head start, and someone local who'll be straight with them.
